NFA Transfers
Step 1: Purchase your item
Birmingham Hill Armory offers a wide range of NFA Class 03 items. These include any and all Suppressors, Short Barreled Rifles (SBRs) and Short Barreled Shotguns (SBS). While these times of firearms are fully legal to own, they do require additional forms and approvals through the ATF in order to take possession.
Once your item(s) are selected and you begin to complete your purchase, you will be directed and required to select an appropriate FFL with a Class 3 Special Occupational Tax (SOT) license, such as Birmingham Hill Armory.
Once your order is complete, the NFA items will be transferred directly to your selected FFL dealer from our distributors via a FORM 3 ATF transfer. The processing times for FORM 3 vary and can range from a few days to a few weeks.
Step 2: Form 4 and Tax Stamps
Once we or your selected FFL dealer received the NFA item, you will be contacted to complete the required FORM 4 for submission to the ATF. FORM 4s can be submitted as an individual or a Trust. Please conduct some research on what option works best for you.
FORM 4, also known as a Tax Stamp, requires a $200 tax payment to be made directly to the ATF.
Once all components of FORM 4 are complete, it will be submitted to the ATF for approval of paperwork. The ATF is notoriously slow when it comes to processing times for FORN 4s. Depending on a variety of factors such as residency and time of year, this can take several months.
YOU CANNOT TAKE POSSESSION OF AN NFA ITEM UNTIL THE ATF HAS APPROVED THE RESPECTIVE FORM 4.
Step 3: Transfer & Pickup
Once approval is received, you will be contacted to come pick up your final paperwork and NFA items.
Payment of applicable fees is due at time of transfer.
There are no additional background checks required at time of transfer.
