NFA Transfers

Step 1: Purchase your item

Birmingham Hill Armory offers a wide range of NFA Class 3 items, including suppressors, short barreled rifles (SBRs) and short barreled shotguns (SBSs). They are fully legal to own but require additional forms and ATF approval before you can take possession.

At checkout you’ll select an FFL with a Class 3 Special Occupational Tax (SOT) license, such as Birmingham Hill Armory. Your NFA item then transfers from our distributors to that dealer on an ATF Form 3, which can take from a few days to a few weeks.

Step 2: ATF Form 4

Once the item arrives, we’ll contact you to complete the ATF Form 4, either as an individual or as a trust — research which option works best for you.

The completed Form 4 is submitted to the ATF for approval. Processing can take several months depending on residency and time of year.

You cannot take possession of an NFA item until the ATF approves the Form 4.

Step 3: Transfer & pickup

When approval comes through, we’ll contact you to pick up your final paperwork and NFA item. Fees are due at the time of transfer, and no additional background check is required.
