Condition Report
This 8-inch Python has been exceptionally well-cared for, presenting as a high-end collector’s piece that has seen minimal use.
-
Finish: Retains an astonishing 98%+ of its original, mirror-like factory Royal Blue finish. The bluing is incredibly deep and rich, a hallmark of Colt’s master polishers. There is a very faint, almost imperceptible cylinder turn line and microscopic edge wear near the muzzle.
-
Bore: Immaculate. The bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling. No pitting, frosting, or signs of heavy use.
-
Grips: The oversized walnut target grips are in superb condition. The checkering remains sharp and tactile, and the wood grain is beautifully figured with no cracks, chips, or handling dents.
-
Mechanics: The action is legendary. The double-action trigger pull is “glass-smooth” with no stacking, while the single-action break is crisp and light. Cylinder lockup is the famous Colt “bank vault” tight, with absolutely no rotational play when the trigger is fully depressed.
-
Timing: Cylinder timing is perfect on all six chambers.
