Classic Hi-Standard Model H-D Military – .22 LR

A true piece of post-WWII American firearms history, the Hi-Standard Model H-D Military is highly coveted by collectors and rimfire target shooters alike. Produced from 1945 to 1950, this pistol was originally designed to capitalize on the returning GI market, offering a robust, highly accurate .22 LR platform with an exposed hammer and a grip angle that closely mimicked the 1911.

Renowned for its exceptional inherent accuracy and buttery-smooth trigger, the H-D Military features a heavy bull barrel and a fully adjustable rear sight. Whether you are a dedicated collector of mid-century American rimfires, or simply looking for an elegant, all-steel target pistol to enjoy an afternoon of precision plinking, this Hi-Standard remains as capable today as it was over 70 years ago.

Condition Report

This vintage H-D Military is a beautiful, honest survivor. It shows the expected cosmetic character of a firearm from the late 1940s, but has clearly been respected and well-maintained over its lifetime.

  • Finish: Retains approximately 80-85% of its original factory bluing. There is standard, uniform finish thinning on the grip straps and high edges, along with minor silvering around the muzzle from typical holster use or storage. You may find scattered, very light surface freckling/patina consistent with its age, but there is no deep rust or heavy pitting.

  • Bore: Excellent. Despite its age, the bore is bright and reflective with strong, sharp rifling.

  • Grips: The factory walnut grips are in very good condition. The checkering shows some smoothing from decades of handling, and there are a few minor dings and compressions in the wood, but there are no structural cracks or splits.

  • Mechanics: The action is incredibly smooth. The slide retracts easily, the exposed hammer cocks cleanly, and the trigger breaks with a crispness that modern rimfires struggle to match. The takedown lever functions properly.

Included Accessories

  • Magazine: Includes one (1) vintage 10-round steel magazine.
