Special Edition Taurus 1911 (NRA Edition) – .45 ACP
A rugged and dependable take on John Moses Browning’s legendary design, the Taurus PT1911 offers an impressive list of factory-custom features right out of the box. Built on a forged hammer-grade steel frame and slide rather than cast components, the Taurus 1911 is known for its durability, comfortable ergonomics, and solid performance without the premium price tag of boutique builders.
This specific model holds a special pedigree as an exclusive Friends of NRA Edition. Typically available as a banquet prize or auction item to support the NRA Foundation, this pistol sets itself apart with custom wooden grip panels featuring a cleanly etched NRA logo. While many commemorative pistols spend their lives as safe queens, this one is an honest, well-loved shooter. If you are looking for a feature-packed .45 ACP that you won’t be afraid to carry, train with, or put through its paces at the range, this well-broken-in special edition delivers.

Condition Report
This special edition NRA Taurus 1911 is an honest, working-class firearm. It has seen regular carry and use, presenting as a reliable shooter that shows some cosmetic wear but remains mechanically sound.
-
Finish: Retains approximately 80-85% of its original finish. There is some fading and finish thinning across the slide and frame from regular handling and holster use. Pronounced silvering is visible on the high edges, muzzle, and controls, along with scattered surface scuffs. No deep rust or pitting.
-
Bore: Good to Very Good. The bore is bright with strong, visible rifling, showing standard signs of regular range use.
-
Grips: The custom wooden grips shows minimal signs of use and are in great overall condition. The etched NRA logo remains clearly visible and pronounced and there are no structural cracks that would compromise your grip.
-
Mechanics: Thoroughly broken in, the slide-to-frame fit remains solid and cycles very smoothly. The skeletonized trigger provides a clean break. The ambidextrous thumb safeties click into place as intended, and the beavertail grip safety functions perfectly.
-
Controls: Features front and rear slide cocking serrations, an extended slide stop, and a skeletonized Commander-style hammer (all showing finish wear consistent with the rest of the pistol).
